Otto Hamel

Otto Hamel (1866 - 1950) was active/lived in Germany.  Otto Hamel is known for Painting, landscape, architecture and genre painter.

Otto Hamel (Also Hammel) was born in 1866 Erfurt. Otto Hamel was a landscape, architecture and genre painter. He studied at the art school Erfurt in Eduard von Hagen and Hans Semper. He was a student of the educational institution of Decorative Arts in Berlin with Max Koch and Franz Skarbina. In 1886 Otto received a state scholarship in Italy, and 1887 owned a studio in Berlin. From 1889-1890 he was at the Academy Julian in Paris with Benjamin Constant, R. Fleury and Lefebvre. From 1890 to 1922 he worked as a professor at the school of Applied Arts in Hannover, and went on study trips to the Netherlands, Austria, Hungary, France, Spain, Italy and Dalmatia. Hamel was a member of the National Association of visual Artists of Germany, based in Munich since 1922. The association was bombed in 1943 in Munich and moved to Lohr. Otto Hamel passed away in 1950 in Lohr am Main._Thieme-Becker, Vollmer, Dressler and Wikipedia_
